Recently, Morgul came on the server for the first time in a while. He took me on a tour of his base, reminiscing on old, distant memories. Suddenly, he tp'ed me to an unfamiliar room: his storage room. Morgul then guided me to a secret room and showed me a chest. Inside laid an old, forgotten memory. Inside laid a present with a book in the middle. Inside the book, past me was mourning his aunt that died the day I wrote the book. This really reminded me how different the server was back then. Everything was simpler. We had a good community. We were really close and everyone was accepting of everyone else. I wouldn't even consider it a community. It was more than that. It was a family. Yes, we all fought, yes, some days we wished we just quit, but at the end of the day, everyone was a big family. We all supported each other and loved each other. We got over our differences to just come together and had fun. Gosh I wish the server was still that way now. There weren't any groundbreaking fights, no hatred. It was an escape from reality. We all came together to play a game where I can truthfully say we were a family. All of that has changed. We are constantly fighting, not accepting differing views, not even tolerating some people. I can now see why HayanTokki said she would shut down the server. We were a family. We overcame our differences. Why does any of that have to change now? If the server does shut down, just know that I love each and every one of you. Though it was only a year to a year and a half, it was time well spent. Quite frankly, it might be the best year to year and a half I'll ever have. You all changed my life and I'll never forget it. <3 P.S: I have had tears streaming down my face ever since I reopened that book.  To all wondering the contents of the chest and book:    |

I am playing for 6 months and i thought the server couldnt be better than the time i joined. This thing though shows me that i am wrong. I wish i could experience the feeling of a family like you did. This server is far more important for some people than for me. If needed and hayan just wants to keep a few original players although it is really hard for me i will leave and so must each and every player if asked. Blockhermit must return to its former glory. In case hayan does that i wish you all good luck in you minecraft experience.

I can't even remember the last time players had a laugh on the server. It used to be: you login to the server and within five minutes, you find out someone has done something a bit stupid and everyone laughs and takes the mick a bit, but it was just a laugh, no one started having grudges against anyone just because they found it funny.
It would be amazing if the server got back to that kind of community.

Good job CrashingCarrot for writing that book to Morgul <3. I remember when I joined last August. Everyone greeted me nicely when I joined the server and me and my old friends would build together for projects and make bases near each other. But when the time progressed during the past months, it slowly came to a downfall of ciaos. I still love this server till this day but it would be nice for the server to become a nicer community.

That was very nice.Well we still have a hand full of good players left and I still remember when I first joined block hermit the date was March 27,2014 or possible March 27,2015. It was nice and everyone help me get started. We where a family thank you everyone. If we do get shutdown goodbye -jacon0206

To all wondering, that book was written around September. It just hit me how close we were back then. That present took me maybe 30 mins tops to make. Why don't we do anything nice like that anymore? D;

I think you've got a point, the server was better back then. I truly remember one fight I had with yemothor. For weeks we would use inventories full off eggs filling each other's bases with chickens 😂. But maybe if the server had like a small 1-2 months downtime or a whole world reset things would be more fun?

ive only been here for 5 months, thought it couldn't have been better than it was then, but your expireience sounds like the best thing ever, I wish I could have had the experience u had tho

The server is the same as it has been the last 4 years. Same attitude, same kind of people. During the summer we had similar summer crowd we had like in year 1, year 2, and year 3. And now we have about the same crowd of people for winter that we had in year 1, year 2, and year 3. And just like we have the same kind of people seasonally, people always write about "When I joined... " when really, it's all about the same.
The summer months brings a lot of younger players. A lot of hustle and bustle. A lot of angry people who grief, get griefed, act entitled, cause drama... And a lot of older people who try and minimize that. Then the school year starts and the server gets quiet. We go from 20 people online to about 10 or a bit less. These people are often busy building for themselves and aren't so chatty. You see less events and player based events like random pvp call out at arena. Then you hit winter months. A lot of people come back. They're much nicer than the summer crowd in general. The weekends get much more popular. People give things away. Bit less drama, bit more coordination as a community, but overall the same as the summer crowd. Server also sees a boost in donations at this time of year. This is also the season where you hear more players talk about their seniority. "I used to play when... " and "back when I... " and "I remember when... ". And then the spring crowd will roll in. Or, rather, roll out. People on the server starting getting a bit lax with their builds. You see a LOT more "I'm bored, I don't know what to do... " than in any other season. A lot of people quit in spring. There is generally a lot less activity despite the number of people in the community.
You all have different user names and are from all over the world, but the behavior remains more or less the same. And if you quit or you become a different kind of player, someone else will replace the kind of player you were.
