On the Blockhermit server a timer of 15 minutes runs and detects whether a player is afking or not and once the timer is up it kicks you off. Now this timer has limited me in various ways as many of my builds require afking such as; mob grinders, iron farms, auto wheat/carrot/potato/beetroot farms, fish farms...etc. The reason the server has this timer is to reduce lag, but more importantly open up player slots for new players looking to join. This is understandable, however this timer does contribute to server lag as well as restrict the members who are truly invested to this server and strive to make it better, yet cannot as they are unable to use the very builds they create. So I ask as a dedicated member that it be fully removed or at very least extended to 2 hours.

The built in auto kick does not contribute to lag on its own. And with the addition of so many new players and higher player population in general, the idle timeout will not be removed and it will not be extended. The kicking of players who afk helps unload many chunks that have no real need to stay active. This decreases mob spawns for other players who are actively playing. There are smart ways to afk that we currently accept such as fishing.

You can rebind your keys to fish.

Like veee said, rebind your keys. Make right click trigger by using a key and just wedge something there. I usually bind it to K and stick my house keys in there.

A little confused. The rules on the website state: "Don’t AFK. The server will automatically kick you if you are idle for more than 15 minutes. However, it is possible to afk using other methods. This is not advised. Players may experience kicks from active seniors if caught." If we are going to permit "approved" ways to AFK maybe we should update the rules and include those methods there.

iirc the announcements tell players not to AFK in public farms, rather than not AFK'ing at all.

AFKing at spawner xp farms is often a big multiplayer problem as spawners ignore the mobcap, but one of the plugins we have should force a limit to 32 mobs.
Players will be kicked if their AFK method is causing undue lag. If the server is crowded players afk fishing might be kicked too.

Okay so far what I understand is that you need to be able to continually trigger right click to have the fishing pole activate...correct?? If so i just use tape and tape down right click. Now ive tried afk fish farms and after the first catch the server isnt able to keep up with the trip wire detecting the bobber fast enough so the fishing pole just continually fires but the iron trapdoor never closes in time to stop it from retracting. So either i dont fully understand your directions or it just doesn't work. ill try rebinding and see if it makes a difference.

You likely aren't triggering the iron door/iron trap door correctly if this is the scenario. Turn off the auto jump and stand closer. If this doesn't work either, they may have fixed fishing altogether.

AFK fishing does not work, I have done it several times and every time, I get kicked from the server to make room for active players.

Myself and several non-seniors have no problem afk fishing. If the server needs the space, it will still kick players that are idle regardless of what they're doing.
