Tip on how to do so: find a nice, flat or oceanic region and start building. Later, show people what you've got so far and ask them for their help. good luck!

I would help you build. In my opinion, a not flat area makes for a more unique city. I am personally tired of flat towns. Learn to work with the land. See Newtown as an example of at least partially working with the land. Also thinking of Mumbo Jumbo's town that worked with the landscape.
MEC2009 and I haven't built anything large, just houses.

Also, the_boss_of_random has started a town, that probably could become a city, easily. Im sure he would let you continue to build there.

When he said city, I thought of new york city which at least mostly flat and some very regulated hills in slope.

New York City is riddled in hills... O.o which is why I never understood cyclists there. This is also why certain trains are 3 floors down and arrive in other stops 1 floor up. Ground zero is sea level but the rest of the city is situated higher up.

DC was built in a swamp, an expensive undertaking. When i think cool city landscapes i think Pittsburgh ( bias as thats when my family moved from) or Paris. A city builds around its natural setting.   |

Also take a look at region Market. Keep in mind size, but I think its totally doable and maybe could take up multiple regions of space if you have enugh people on the team. You should also take care of style and all before starting.
