May I "demolish" this building?

Hello people!
About a month ago, I "moved in" to a wilderness region.
There was already a small "camp" there, consisting of a few (empty) chests, a few hoppers, and a small farm (of three blocks)
I didn't think much of it, but the building is right next to a region pole, and I would like to put a rule board in its location, because I'm planning on naming the region.
The owner of the camp has clearly moved out, nothing has changed there and the farm is untouched. The building is unclaimed as well. I even put a sign there asking if whoever has created the structure was still in there, but I got no response.
It would be annoying if this place had to stay forever, because it could potentially mess up some plans.
I'm not quite sure what the rules are about demolishing unclaimed and abandoned buildings, so I thought I'd ask here first.
