I am going to start with the TLDR then I will explain my thought process for bringing this up.
There is a poll where you can cast a vote to try and give some feedback if you don't feel like commenting.
I would like the enderdragon to drop elytra, with a percent chance, upon death; I was thinking roughly 33%.
I am given to understand that the end was reset around, Saturday the 11th. I did not know this as I set out to try and find my first elytra hoping for an overlooked city. I was fortunate enough to find an unspoiled city and began to claim my findings. Skipping 1 day ahead, I, lagged, died and lost everything to the void while trying to map out the end.
Unfortunately, by this time the end had already been fully gutted. It took our enthusiastic community less than 24 hours to completely clear out the end of elytra and shulkers. And I am given to understand that the next reset of the end will not be for 2 months. Now I do know that there are several people that are selling their newly found spoils. However, I find the idea of earning 80 - 120 thousand Rhines to be slow, and a deterrent to newer players, I started on the 4th so I consider myself to be somewhat new, I, therefore, set out to kill the end dragon. As it was my first time killing the dragon and my only other experience was from watching Hermitcraft, I was unaware that the dragon does not, in fact, drop elytra upon death. Veesix was kind enough to spare me from killing the planned 5 dragons after the first. This brings me to the point of this thread.
I would like to add the ability for the end dragon to drop elytra, so that players may be able to get one as a reward for killing a boss that, seemingly, has no practical purpose, rather than, in the 24-hour window or by weeks of saving.
Now I understand that if it was a 1:1 chance, elytra would become commonplace rather than a coveted prize. So I would like to keep some aspect of challenge and suggest a 33% chance (with looting III). I feel that this will be a reasonable balance between having to grind the dragon and keeping it difficult enough to prevent a large influx of elytra into the economy. Additionally, while I am not against a lower percent chance, I feel that anything below 20% would mean that you hear the dragon die so often that it becomes bothersome to other players. That being said, I would happily go all the way to a 1% chance. Because it is still better than my 0% chance of finding one in the end.
Let me know what you all think.
Best wishes,
AwCrivins
