I'm fairly wealthy on the server I have everything I want, except for wings. ever since the server elytra shop was taken down I have had one set of wings after another and lost them in stupid ways (the worst one was a zombie villager I was healing killed me, put on my wings then cured itself erasing its inventory and my wings) my most recent set of wings I lost trying to get a backup pair of wings by end raiding. maybe I'm bad at it but after about an hour I found NO end cities my wings were running out and I make a small enderman platform and apparently did it wrong because I died... with no cords... I know I'm bad.
I'm not complaining that end raiding should be easier, it shouldn't, but elytra are impossible to get now adays, even with adequate funds. Every store is sold out permanently and the price is ridiculously high. This wouldn’t be a problem if it was like shulker boxes which are nice but not necessary. Elytra change how you play Minecraft as a whole and I always forget how much it sucks to lose them. I’m not saying that it should be as easy to get them but I’d like it be more possible.
I have some ideas to make the elytra shop mean more than just finding it and paying 50,000. Making the store behind a challenge is my favorite of them. a short parkour challenge (hopefully not as difficult as orion) a puzzle or a pve challenge with spawners or whatever. People could still sell wings at market for those who can’t or don’t want to do the challenge and can pay a extra buck. Still have it be expensive, still have the limit on how often you can, just make it easier than running around the end for hours without seeing a single city.

just saying. Elytras aren't too hard to get i sell about 3-6 a week so just ask me I do a lot of raids and now the end islands reset ill do a lot more! |

Maybe going with a clear inventory, getting some Armour/armor from the server and fighting a few mobs. It would be interesting and challenging to get one. I myself have lost 3 elys in lagging situations ( wifi in my region is poop).

To counter jonoboy, I think that the idea is great. The elytra shop was always very easy to get to. A challenge inbetween will really make it more fun, and not 'abusable'. For most people, elytras are hard to get _because they don't have an elytra yet_. Even I couldn't find an empty end city. I flew past the borders and found one where I had to wait for a few hours to get it.

I don't know what's more annoying, when people would constantly spam chat begging for "op" so they could fly OR NOW when people constantly complain they don't have an elytra. Does no one remember how we ever survived when you couldn't fly at all in minecraft? I've had the same elytra for like two years and I think I've used it once. /old man rant

The block mage, its pretty obvious that you haven't read anything I wrote except the title. there isn't one way to play minecraft. you play your way, I play mine and people do what they want, its minecraft. take a slice of humble pie and realize that not everyone is begging. maybe you should actually read the post instead of writing an "old man rant" after reading the title and assuming that I'm one of those @%#@%$* who annoy the seniors to the point where they almost get the server shut down. sorry that I'm so mad but I think you can see my problem with being compared to people like that. if you don't ask the answer is no, just accept that no is still a reasonable answer. I honestly think that its more than likely you are a nice person, a great minecrafter and a valuable member of the server. I hope that you wont brush this off as some salty guy who wants the server gods to give him everything he wants. as hard as it is to recognize usernames as people they are... emotional... easily annoyed... people... yes... It's less about the ability to fly and more about the ability to have things that other people can have. When it comes to the elytra, it is possible for everyone to have it, indeed, but it's still quite finite. And finite items are the reason we have an economy to start with. So players can get things that are otherwise finite in acquisition in a minecraft world. This is why I'm trying to implement event gifts so that shulker boxes are a bit easier to acquire along with God Apples which are near impossible to acquire now.
The elytra shop we had was a challenge to players to play some scavenger hunt. They would take clues and track it down and only then were they able to buy the elytra (at 50k Rhines) and unable to buy again until 14 days had passed. We felt this would still keep the rarity high along with it being a challenge to get the elytra. On a similar level to it being a challenge to get an elytra from End City raiding. But many players played quite unfairly with our previous challenge. They'd tell other players the location of the shop in exchange for resources or rhines. Exploitation of our system is unfair and so we took the shop away indefinitely.
If we can create a challenge that will rival raiding an End City with a time limit to 14 days again, I think it'd be fair to put on the server. I hadn't thought of the possibility of the challenge not being a scavenger hunt before. So if we can create a challenge without diminishing returns, where it's relatively a challenge to all players, I'm all for it.

I think the best challange would be a PvE one (player v entities). Since the only things in the end that stop you are the shulkers, there should be something similar to fight.
Maybe a fake end city with shulkers that has the shop _and_ a return button at an end ship. Building a replica and putting it in a glass box would be cool. It doesn't have to be really big, maybe just the bottom tower that most end cities have (where there are a lot of shulkers around a parkour to the top). You'd have to kill the shulkers to survive, or just wing it. If that's too complicated, a mob fighting arena would work too. Some zombies and skeletons. Creepers wouldn't work because you could make them below up the entire swarm of mobs.

about 70-60K each i try to make them cheap. They sell fast when their cheap so i get the money quicker |
