(As we all know, my grammar and spelling is bad. That's not going to change in this post. lol and is going to be long, cause this comes from the heart.)
So when I saw the BH Announcement pop up about this forum and the idea of it shutting down or will be shutting down... My heart just sank. It's not due to loosing my time spent here, but Lossing my one and only place and the reason for play MC atm. The people who play here is the reason why I enjoy playing here.I know I'm just the guy who sits in the background most of the time when I'm on. Stepping in to help or ask for help from time to time. But I truly enjoy playing on this server.
My feedback to help with the server will be of some ideas that have been suggested already and a couple other ideas.
1)From my years of being a full-time moderator for a Group/Clan called Tactical Gamer (TG). I helped admin over a multitude of servers over a variety of games and Thousands of players. We also hold classes on how to be a better gamer and person. (I'm not saying we need to do this.) o I understand how much stress that Hayden and the other are going tho. Honestly, that is why I stepped down from that clan after 5+ years of playing with this community. I needed a break, a change of pace. Will I ever go back, ya maybe one day... What I'm trying to lead to is that we need to spread your workload out. That was one thing TG was good at... We need to constantly bring in new Seniors or just juniors into the fold. Leaving it to the same group of people, isn't healthy for the server or the people in charge. And maybe have a subgroup of Temporary Juniors to help watch and lend a hand when needed. This role shouldn't be extended to people who have just been on the server for a long time(That's not a reason to get such great power). But to people who show that they are will to take a second or two from what they are doing to help a new person out or solve a problem. ( I set out every time I log on to do one nice thing for one person at least if not more. Whether that is giving something for free or super cheap, or helping out a new player. We should all strive for the this in my opinion.) SO to sum it up. Respect is not something we should do, its a must.
When I first started on this server I read the rules and what not. Ya theirs a lot to read, but I did it. What got me to stay was a nice Guy named Narwhals (something close to that). He gave be extra supplies and guided me to a region and explained how everything worked. From that small moment of help from him. Put this idea into my head of a place I could see myself coming back day after day. I wait for the day he returns so I can say thank you to him and show him how far I've come since that one day...
2)I will agree, The Spawn could use an overhaul. How can we fix this? With a community project like suggested. But going one step farther than just fixing the wall of text. This will take time and people with the skills to do it, but I believe we can. That would be making a video. Something simple and short, like we said we are a family friendly server. Not all kids and older adults can read or understand all that text input. But a video in which the could watch and learn from, now that... that we can do! I would be willing to create the asset and help make this video. Kids could show their parents and the parents could also help them understand.
3) Community events, to help bring the server together. I believe more of this though out the year would we great for everyone. Have a sign-up or random one and lock the server with a PW for that day. Have it on the forum for people to grab who want to join in. (Yes, I understand not everyone would want to partake in the event. That why it would still be avalible for them to grab the PW and jsut login Have everyone join discord and just have a party.)
4) A reset... OF EVERYTHING! All regions except for Newtown, any other admin areas and maybe the names of the regions(more or less). I know... I know... A lot of you are probably like he's CRAZY. But listen, sometimes a little crazy is what we need. Close the server for like a month maybe two. Have a rebuild/fix for everything we just suggested( with a select amount of people and post updates as they are done), but along with that... Reset all the regions. I believe this would bring back, the idea of a community like Redcliff and others. Bring the server closer, people helping people, cause one player has a resource another player wants. People making new friends in the process.
Yes, I understand that this is out of my hands and I am a singular voice among the peanut gallery. What will I do without this server, probably work on getting to gold rank in League. But this... this is a family in which I enjoy coming to every day. Relaxing, watching people talk in chat. Yes, we fight from time to time. But that is what families do... No family is perfect, and once you hit bottom, things can only get better. Because the Night is darkest before the Dawn... and the Dawn is coming...

Im so sad to hear the server might shut down. I really hope it doesnt happen and Ill try to help. I think the best thing you guys can do is just do re do the entire spawn. I dont want to sound mean but I'll just be honest here.
Spawn is boring and the first thing you are greeted by are a bunch of text on the server. Spawn should have different sections or have things that look cool to attract new players. Im a younger player and I know for a fact kids(myself included) dont like reading a bunch of text on a minecraft server.I think there should be different links at each section that directs you to maybe Youtube tutorial videos, cause thats whats interesting to us, not a bunch of signs. Like maybe you guys can make a tutorial video ?
I really hope the server doesnt shut down as this is where I play minecraft and this is one of the only servers that are so friendly and no swearing and such.

'We have parents and children playing together on our server'. Me and my daughter both play on here. She's 11, so there are definitely younger people on here. Altho i do find most of the arguing takes place at night (uk time), so she doesn't really see it. (and if i see her on at this time she's in trouble ;p)

Hello all. I'm 36 years old and I have a 12 year old son who sometimes plays on this server. I better never hear of someone who is shaming a young player for playing A VIDEO GAME. This game is to be enjoyed by all ages, not just what you think it should be. If my son came to me and said,"dad, I logged off because someone was picking on my age" or something like that my heart would break because I know someone caused my son pain. You, are you that person? Are you someones son or daughter? Imagine if it were you. This isn't some game where there aren't feelings involved. This is a game where people put their creative minds into everything they build. And they build friendships and a community. There is no room for toxic people. Ya know, it takes just as much effort to extend your hand to someone for help as it does to slap them with it. Why would you chose to be rude and hurtful when you can be helpful and nice?
I joined this server about 8 months ago. It was a much smaller community then, but growing. Seniors were happy to help, as long as you read all the signs at spawn, and things were easy going. Server updates, claims glitches, builds get griefed, villagers disappear, redstone breaks, lag, so many things to deal with. The happy seniors begin to not have time to play much for themselves. They begin doing their best to fix everything, but it's too much. They get behind, there is too much work. They ask we put requests on the forums so they can organize what needs to be done, a checklist if you will. This allows them SOME time for themselves but not much. Pretty soon it starts feeling like a 2nd job. I work 70 hours a week sometimes. I spend more time with my co workers than I do with my own wife. I'm not the only one who does this. Seniors have jobs, and lives. They do this job because they love the community and the time they have put into their builds. They do it because they want to help people who are grateful for the help they can give.
So in walks a TON of new people to the server. There is a clash of the old guard and the new guard. the old peeps who like the way it was, and the new people who don't understand why they can't just do what they want and are upset with the restrictions. There are rules for a reason. Set up by Hayan and the trusted seniors. The rules aren't there for everyone else to follow, but you as well. Imagine if your claim has become unclaimed and someone griefed your stuff while you were offline. It happens. You would be furious, wanting who ever did it to be banned. You would want immediate action. Everyone wants that. The truth is, a senior will be with you as soon as they can. Patience. I grew up in a time without the internet, without a phone in my pocket. If I wanted to talk to my friends after school I had to call their mom and dad's house and speak with the mom and dad before my friend got on the phone. You learned tact, patience, respect. Today, everything is instant. text message, news, games, results happen NOW. The older you get, the more you figure out what truly matters and what seems to matter really doesn't so much.
I'm a person who believes if you work hard, you will get what is coming to you, great things. To me, a Senior has proven their worth over time, and as a reward, they get certain advantages on the server. Is it fair? To me, yes. But you don't see it as fair? why? because you can't do what they can do and you want it now. Too bad buckaroo. Life isn't fair. In the military, I was doing some training. My Training instructor told me to take a sand bath. Up until that point I was doing really well, I didn't mess up or anything. Why was I being punished with a sand bath. I didn't ask questions, I just did it. I took sand and I rubbed it all over my sweaty body, poured it down my shirt, rubbed it in my hair. When I was done he asked me if I knew why I was being punished. I told him I didn't know. He said,"because life isn't fair, and the sooner you learn that, the better off you will be". Those words ring true every day of my life.
Hayan pays for this server to run. A lot of us on the server donate to the server. Donate. To give money freely. I do not own this server if I donate money to it. Hayan owns it. She does what she pleases. If you are here on Blockhermit to be a part of the community and help out, I welcome you and I will fight endermen all day at your side until we fall. If you're here to cause chaos and disregard the rules that have been laid out for you, I respectfully ask that you bugger off to another server. If you have concerns or suggestions on how something can be done better or if you feel something isn't fair and is too harsh, be respectful and post it in the forums. I promise you, the seniors will discuss it and if it is well thought out and logical, they will make changes. Learn to be patient and respectful, you'll be amazed at what can happen if you only take the time to ask, "Hey, is there anything I can I do to help out today?" I guarantee, you'll feel better in your heart.
Love you all. SuperHeroMinion
p.s. I'm sorry if I didn't cover everything. It's midnight and I have another 12 hour work day in 8 hours. night <3

I agree with Renderfran in that you guys should try to rotate juniors and seniors. That sounds like a great idea, keeps the group fresh with new ideas and spreads the workload. Maybe put up an application page and require a sponsorship or something from a senior to be eligible.

Please don't shut down the server... I just started a week or two ago and don't want to start over on another server that isn't near the quality of this one. I see what the issues are. It seems to be the younger players who have no tact and no social skills. They are used to dealing with their parents and demanding and the louder they yell, the faster it happens. That is, fortunately, not how the real world works. Most of us who are older, myself almost 29, know that demanding and bugging people isn't the way to go. To be honest, spawn didn't help me 2 weeks ago. I had played on maybe 2 servers before and hated both of them. I remember the first 2 days on the server I just wandered around from region to region, not building anything, not really knowing where to go or where I could build without getting in trouble. With a fix of spawn, Which I would gladly help and donate my own resources for, I think that might help some of the younger players get more used to the rules we have around here. I know I have been bugged by a few younger players lately and they are very demanding. That is not to say that the older players don't have attitudes and aren't part of the problem, they are too. But those are just my thoughts and what I've seen playing here a few weeks. I want to donate but only if the server is going to continue. Because if it isn't, I need that money to start my own. I don't know many of you, and haven't met the owner, but yeah... Please keep it going Sounds a little selfish if you ask me. I get that you have started to grow on the server but making it all about you isn't going to save the server

Since others have made their semi-introductions I might aswell. I... I mean WE are a couple (aged 29 & 25) that plays on this server from same account (since our credit cards does not support buying minecraft option) whenever we got an free time. We have really put an effort in this server, particulary in trying to make pretty builds and just to see this server going down because of some troublemakers brings tears to our eyes. ;( I can't realy believe that this is such an unsolvable problem. There will always be someone who is immature, rude or unpolite it is just a matter of how to deal with them. Maybe there should be some more ways to educate/punish those who just don't get it? I know I might be reaching, but maybe seniors should be granted some extra permissions or something to deal with this matter? I think it should be made clrear to everyone that if you come to this server to make fun of someone, you are not welcome here. Simple as that. For those who ignore this, there should be punishment. I would gladly help, but I just don't know what can I do to help solving this problem.

In the August of 2016, I joined the Server. When I first came on, I as overwhelmed with many people that welcomed me. Then I realized that this was the right place to be. I started getting used to everything with all of the regions and players and what not. Then I moved into the Oakhill region._Tibi_ toured me around the region and was full of people and everywhere I looked, I would see someone building something. This was a really good region with many friendly people. Then I started making friends and making the region even more better than it was before. 2 months in, some people had left the server because they got tired of it but that never stopped me. I eventually moved onto making my own region and started to expand. I've came on here EVERYDAY for the past 12 months because I loved the server so much . And Now YOU are going to shut this well running server down FOREVER?!?!? At least give us a chance of being a friendly community because I know that everyone want's this server to progress and be a better server! Please don't shut it down forever. Whoever want's the server to stay alive, say I! P.S If you think there is some errors give me a break! I've wrote 12 essays during my school year And this came from my HEART! Ok, buckle your seatbelt, grab some popcorn and get comfy. This is gonna be a long one. 1. Hayan, who pays ACTUAL money for the server, has invested her time, money, and patience for the server for the duration of the server. Begging her to change her mind because of selfish reasons is pretty crazy. After years of going through the logs and seeing the decline of respect people are giving has really disappointed her and she wants change. 2. Twelve essays seems like a lot but Hayan invests personal money to make this server happen. Paying every month for however many years tends to take a toll on personal investments. She has spent years behind the scenes making the server what it is today. Twelve essays is nothing compared to the amount Hayan has done for the server. Comparing days, if that, to literal years of work if undeniably insane. 3.As with the post prior to this, is extremely selfish. Begging someone to do something tends to make things worse, no matter the circumstances. I'm not saying it's wrong to want the server to stay up, I'm saying it's wrong to beg and plead to get your way. 4. Hayan gave us time to create a "friendly community", like 5 years. That's plenty of time. In fact, we had one up until around 3 months ago. 5. The "errors" of the server are real-life problem that can result, in extreme situations, in people taking their life. I believe that's enough to classify it as a serious issue that needs to stop. It's against the law because of how people in the past have taken their life because of things online. Things like this cannot be taken lightly. One wrong sentence can cause someone to lose their life, a family member ripped from their family, a friend lost, a life taken.

The major reason i want to keep the server alive is because of its community, take an example of apollo or arus or even ravine those regions were built by a community. People come together to make awesome things and sometimes not so awesome things. The fact that there are players cyber-bullying and constantly bugging seniors of there death since they are complete dumb noobs (or old noobs) and the don't care about other people (i might have taken it a little too far there, but that is what i fell). This is what ruins the community, seniors, juniors, and players.
What I think should happen is mini quiz for at spawn when you log on for the first time. with questions like
where do you ask a senior for help a. on the forum b. on discord c. in game
this will just put the idea in mind to all the newbies that come on.
this tread is meant for players to get along, new ones, old ones, seniors, juniors. and when you say I want the server to stay since i took so long on my build, that is completely useless. Here we are trying to find solutions
Today is Thursday the 6th of July and hayan is thinking closing it this weekend if i am not mistaken, so that is not a lot of time.
Please think through before you post, THINK (is it true?, helpful?, inspiring?, necessary?, kind?)

First and foremost I'd like to thank everyone for participating in our town forum and on our Discord channel regarding the fate of the server. Many of you have expressed concerns and have even shared your humble beginnings with us during this event. For this, we're very grateful for your participation.
A little bit of history for you guys:
When I started around a year ago as a Senior the server was not nearly as big as it is now. Players were mostly self-sufficient and did not require Senior-intervention for the most part. The server was quiet, save for a few groups of friends that would chat and play together, and people got along in small communities and could handle their issues themselves. Senior staff mainly consisted of 5 individuals: Hayan, Cobb, Cap, Morgul, and Lordy, and they were accessible for small requests here and there. The forums were in the early stages of development, as was the website, but there was no Discord chat in the mix just yet.
It was probably around the summer that I started moderating that the server began to show signs of failing. By fail, I mean that plugins would become less than reliable, and that this is around the time that our problems would start. Los and myself were active during the summer, and at a later time Laya would join us as well. It was from this point on that we would rush from the forums answering threads about slime chunks, corrupted chunks, market claims, missing claims, missing villagers, missing beacons, griefing, glitches, rollbacks, he said, she said, swearing, unwanted pvp, looting, server lag, and the odd broken Ender Blender.
This is just at the senior level.
Some of my Senior colleagues have moved on to other things, other games, other aspects of life, and so there's just a few of us left to manage our growing community. Some of us are burnt out after spending days replying to the same issues, and some of us have dropped out entirely.
Eventually it became evident that Junior roles would be necessary for sorting out issues between players in-game. Juniors were meant to be the true moderators on the server. Their responsibilities would be limited to muting and kicking unruly players; essentially keeping the peace at a conversational level. Over the summer we've had a good sized chunk of new players join and with that a new source of requests to attend to. Our player community is resilient at times helping new players, but at other times they are as dismissive and annoyed that players cannot read the wall of text in front of them (I'm personally in favour of a Spawn re-design, but I don't have the time to help out right now).
We're always looking for new players to fit our Junior roles and they go through the same vetting process that all of our Seniors do as well. However, a lot of our choices are limited to who is around, how long they've been around, what their longterm prospects are like, and, to a higher degree, are they good at problem solving and handling stressful situations. It's not as simple a solution as adding more Juniors, but making sure that we've got quality people looking out for others as they play as well.
Tired of reading this long reply yet? We're finally at the part where Seniors might actually have a chance to play.
I personally don't see much time where Seniors get to play. Some days are great and no one needs any help. People are able to help themselves, they get along, which in turn means we finally have time to work on our base, or build a public location for some future project. Other days we spend an hour or two fulfilling requests and hunting xrayers which eats up all of our playtime. It would be very difficult to plan out another Market Region-sized project with the amount of time we each have. So when I see posts that say that Seniors shouldn't be able to use creative blocks for their own uses, I think that those players only see the tip of the iceberg of our responsibilities. Moderating the server is at times a very fun job, however when it comes to maintaining a happy and fluid community, it does not pay the bills at home, nor does it come off as very rewarding at times.
As a last point, I'll repeat what I always say to people that approach me about Junior and Senior roles: although you may not have a staff title to your name, your participation in our community is just as important. The most important role that we can't hand out is that of a Community Leader. We can't tell someone to be well liked, nor that everyone should listen to this one person while we're away, but players can do that themselves by helping out and showing kindness to one another. Let the Senior staff take care of the truly unruly players that require bans, and for the rest of you I ask that you simply take care of one another. As a hermit-like server everyone is entitled to living on their own, but as a community everyone has a responsibility to be accountable to each other.
Anyway, hopefully this helps answer some of the points that a lot of you have made. Again, thanks for everyone's participation.
Finally, this thread is being locked and further discussion of this matter is now being discussed by our Senior staff.
tl;dr we hear you, now let us take care of this matter in-house.
