If you have missed it on Discord, today Hayan has decided that she wants to shut down the server in one week if the players and seniors can't come to an agreement on how everyone can get along.
Recently players have been upset with the lack of help from seniors on the forums. I can understand that waiting is frustrating, but also understand that our seniors are here to help, but they also come on BlockHermit to have fun, relax and spend time with friends. But when they get bombarded with demands the second they log on, it leaves seniors with a sour taste in their mouth and no desire to help others.
Hayan has said many times over to please direct concerns on the forums yet many still don't do that. Therefore as you all may have noticed, tons of our seniors have either retired, stepped down or simply don't log on anymore.
I want seniors and players alike to voice their concerns and what they think can help the server get along.
I for one don't want this server shut down, and I'm sure you all don't either. So let's work together and save our home! <3

here is my idea
MANY PEOPLE complain about dying due to a glitch, so instead of talking a senior, ask someone who can give you some stuff, lots of people go end raiding, and those people can help. just a suggestion, maybe have a place donate loot to unfortunate players,
seniors want to have as much fun as us players, and if we constantly spam them with stuff, they start to ... you know.
if you have a problem, put it on the forum, so the seniors can help you, something i learnt growing up is if you help someone, they will help you, and by posting on the forums doesn't force them to do stuff the moment you want it
I would like thread to be announced on discord (thanks lampmeorelse) and on the server as a link if ANYONE that WANTS to (and has admin on the channel) to put it on,
anyone is not forced to do anything
but again, be nice to seniors
here is a list of things you should not REPORT
-build got griefed than either you forgot to claim your build - you can report this in the GRIEF thread, not in general -lost my stuff you can get some new stuff from end raiders

Agreed Wixler, I think that 98% of the issues can be contained if 1) players post on the forums their issues and 2) Seniors are able to get to the requests faster.
Sure no one is perfect, and I don't think anyone is expecting them to be. But arguing with people on server rules and bombarding seniors the moment they log on, or spam them on discord for help isn't going to cut it. The forums are here to help streamline everything. We all need to utilize it better.

If everyone wants the server to stay alive, we all need to start showing everyone a bit more respect. Myself included. We all need to not bug seniors about our problems, but try to fix them on our own. If we can't do it ourselves, we need to use the forums. Seniors are players that are willing to help, but don't enjoy helping when people demand the help. If you see a senior online, don't look at them only as a senior, but also as a friend. Seniors want to play the game, and will get to all the forum posts eventually. If you have a problem, just make a post in the correct section, and it will get solved. Just be patient. It's hard to go through all the posts on the forums. It takes a lot of time. So don't bug seniors in-game, otherwise that takes away from their personal time, and that then takes away from the time they have left to help out others. Seniors are constantly working on resolving problems, and it's not easy.
Also, don't use Discord to instantly get in contact with a senior about a problem, or even to tell them about a forums post. That's not what I set up the Discord server for. The Discord server is meant for general discussion, kind of like minecraft chat is.

This has been a problem for a long time I don't know if we can truly fix this as it has been a long time I don't want to see the server die but it may be for the best for the seniors and hayan I've made some great friends on this server from the past 3 years I've been on it but most of my friends aren't on any more like Lordy and alpha and extreme morgul as well and cobbett but all great things come to an end.

Ok here is my opinion. Of course i agree with all of you. The players that cause the most issues are the newer ones. They dont know anything about the server and they dont even bother reading the rules. If there was a way to force them to read them it would be cool. Plus there must be links whenever asks something to show him the forum page. I personally cant live without this server. I love it. I joined and carried on playing it because there was a friendly atmosphere. Everyone must respect the fact that seniors are players who want to have fun as well. By our behaviour we forced lots of them to either retire or stop playing. #Savetheserver

Hayan, I just want to take a moment to thank you for the trouble you go through so we can have a wonderful place to play. it's the only server I ever spend time on. I don't really have the money to donate right now but I try to take the time to fix up some of the more destroyed public areas. (eg. end ice path and blazefarm wither hunting area) and its nowhere near enough to repay the community you have built. I think Minecraft gets super boring without a way of sharing it and your server has inspired me and been amazing to play on. if the server goes down, I want you to know that at least for me your hard work payed off. you are a wonderful person and even though I rarely could say hi to you, you have made my life a bit more fun and a bit happier. you and the seniors deserve to enjoy your server as much as so many of us do.
Thank You. ;^P YupPup

Please the sake for or turly wanting to have a stable, friendly enviroment to play on. We want to play vanilla as much as possible, but as cobbett said before as much as they hope, there still need to be certain regulations set up. Yes, there's personal use of creative mode, Yes, u may not like it, some do some dont, just as much as i hate duping carpets or rails on the server, theres really not much to it, it's just part of the game. You may be salty as for seniors not dealing with your problems right when u need them, seniors being all high up at stuff.. etc. Give them a break, they have proven themself helpful thats why they are selected as seniors. They play the game like us to get away for their jobs, life and stress, we youngsters maybe still in school so we cant see clearly of what " real life " is, we just simply finish our homework our chores and pop on line. Turly, if u consider urself a true player on this server, dont go all salt mod when u die in the end, you take on the risk venturing, you have been warned countless times by the BH announcements that roll backs do not and will not be applied to end glitch death. Back to the creative mode usage thingy.. given tha fact that players are not happy with the personal use of blocks that arent accessible through vanilla, chill, and let me tell u what i believe. Los's ISS was built in survival, there are a few command blacks on top, but what dos it benifit him with? Nothing its just for looks. Why does he place barrier blocks around his polar bear, because then he doesnt have to worry about losing it and can have more time to deal with all the other carpy stuff we through on him. I dont know why this creative thing bothers anyone, at the end he still built up his base form survival, he grind he gained, thats what i believe.

For the older players: If the server is going to survive, we mainly need more respect.
First, there needs to be more respect for the rules. Most people, myself included, disregard the rules, and lash back when people remind them of the rules.
Next, there needs to be more respect for seniors and juniors. People call them lazy, which they are not. We need to understand that seniors volunteer their time to help others, and do not want to even log on because they are expected to help, and people get angry when they do not give up their free time to solve their problems.
Lastly, there needs to be more respect for the forums. If someone has a problem, they need to post it on the forums. However, seniors sometimes respond to requests on discord or in-game, which makes people think they can get away with it. Seniors and juniors need to never respond to requests outside of the forums with something other than "post it on the forums." In addition, seniors and juniors should make somewhat of an effort to respond to forums more quickly. The main reason people neglect the forums is that it is inconvenient and slow. This is only made worse by seniors not wanting to respond because they are being harassed to. It's all a big circle really.
People need to know where and when they need to shut their big mouth. If people can't do that, they need to either leave or take a time out. I understand no one's perfect and that's hard for some people, but that's life.
For the newer players: If the server is going to survive, newer players need to know what the heck is going on.
First, People don't care enough to read the rules and ask questions that seem second nature and stupid to us. After seeing the same questions over and over, people start to get annoyed and usually have a bad response.
Next, some older players are nice enough to give a tutorial over, and over, and over. I suggest there is some way players can take an automated tutorial that shows them the ropes.
Finally, instead of signs, we could use chat. Something like when you join a watered down version of the signs at spawn is said in chat (client side). You could also click on links that will give you more information, or link you to specific forum posts. /help isn't very helpful, it should be able to answer questions that people keep asking as well as giving syntax for commands.
Bloody_Moonlight: I KNOW this includes me as well, I am guilty of these actions also. Please do not let me know again.
May the sandwich be with you, Tiberaus

There are toxic people. And they have to be kept on a short leash.
But overall, complaining, begging, whining serve no purpose. Keeping that language off the public threads will help. When people put this out there they are not player that make BH great. They are users that sap everyone's strength and patience. The people who have no or little respect for others are the issue (in part anyway).
As it's that dire I think it should now be a firm rule that seniors are not to be approached in game about any issue. If someone public or privately messages them, the senior can ignore them (or formally /ignore them) or tell them they must post the request on the forum, no matter what it is (no more emergency's even). If the person persists harassing the senior by pushing their agenda (And harassing can be just one sentence continuing the behavior they were already asked to stop), they should be banned. Temporary at first, and permanently after the 2nd or 3rd time.
Honestly, we've gotten an influx of a lot of garbage players in the last 3 months too.
Maybe create another class of player/moderator who can in game temporarily ban players who are detrimental to BH game play. They would post a report afterwards for a senior detailing why they banned the person. And the senior could follow up on it then, if the so desired. Basically there are lot of seasoned players who could help pitch in here. They would be fair and not abuse this. By spreading the policing responsibility around it might help lessen the burning out to.
Maybe there are too many things to fix. Some things we know and maybe some we don't. And may never know.
All I know is that this server is worth fighting for. And anyone who doesn't think there are any problems or whose attitudes are indifferent or blasé and not BH players. Honestly, the people who are indifferent right now are really part of the problem then too.
Finally, I think a week may be just to short of a time to effectuate any meaningful turnaround, short of taking drastic actions. But as it is a dire situation I am thankful we are afforded any chance to fix things before it's too late.

Adding on to what hoost said, I agree that a week is rather short. I understand that patience is wearing thin, but I think we should be given more time. I see that many players are making an effort to fix problems even they've admitted to. At this point, I think anyone who refuses to make a change in or an attempt to change their attitude should be given a very firm warning, then even firmer punishment. After the major pains in the back side have been removed we should be left with far less problems to solve.
MATTRESS FIRM PUNISHMENT
Also, please stop arguing back and forth on discord, it does not help the situation. You all know who you are.

I think that spawn needs some massive reforms, the older more loyal players cause hardly any issues and usually do things according to the procedure but as Brady1190 said its the newer players and I think that's due to spawn. It's just boring and uninviting, you just have a bunch of signs thrown at you. You are thrown too big a piece of information at once and it seriously is very confusing especially to a younger player. The information needs to be divided up into smaller chunks and you need to be guided through the information. Like when you see the signs at first you're immediate reaction is too long didn't read. Due to this, they bombard the server with questions before shortly quitting.
But on the subject of everyone getting along, although this might sound pessimistic, people never get along and I know we'd all love it to happen but as part of human nature humans just simply never like each other and very rarely do we always respect each other(me included I tend to be disrespectful). But to avoid the seniors being bombarded with questions spawn needs a serious changing.
Also, I don't think tougher penalties and increased punishment is not the way to go, it's only a balloon squeezing tactic, it won't actually deflate the balloon and fix the problem but it'll act as a push factor driving people away from the server. In a scenario where we do enforce tough penalties, all that will happen is new players will come in, due to not being informed well enough by spawn reek havoc and then they will get banned but even though they are banned they still reeked the havoc and we just drove away a new player who had the potential to have fun on the server and help the community.

Thank you all for your input, you all have very valid points. One thing I did notice is that I went to the requests section, for general requests, slime chunks and market forums. There was ONE request that was not dealt with, and it was posted yesterday and the person who had posted this request was up in arms before even 24 hours has passed.
This is part of the problem, seniors have lives. At LEAST two are on vacation right now, so you are two seniors down to help fulfill requests.
I whole heartedly agree on being firmer with players, not so much asking for help, but the one harassing seniors. Fighting and talking back at the rules. That is one that literally makes me grind my teeth. The rules are there, if you play on the server, you have to abide by them if you want to play. I personally swear like a sailor in real life. But in respect to the server rules, I don't swear. I never once questioned it, I just don't swear.
The other day players were arguing that we should be allowed to swear because 'No one online is under 12. When one person clearly said they were under 12, they were shamed and logged off. My heart literally broke for that poor guy. I know for a fact we have players under 12 here. We have parents and children playing together on our server, this is a family friendly server and what are we teaching the children when they are shamed for being young?
