Hello people.
My name is Chris and since I'm new here, I have a few questions to ask.
1. Let's say I am in the Resource region and while mining, I stumble upon an area where some other player has mined before me. I can see he has made shafts and bridges and he has lit the place up and all that. I suppose as long as I stay off his chests and torches, I can mine to my hearts desire, right?
2. Since mining is only allowed in the Resource region, what happens when for instance, I am in my claimed region, digging let's say a cave/bunker? Or terraforming? What happens then, should I find diamonds? Or something common, like coal, but I *really* need coal right then and there?
3. There are some chests here and there that although seem public, there's no sign stating so. One example is right outside the Mansion. What rule governs them? Can I safely store stuff in there? Can I take stuff from there I didn't put in?
4. Lastly, what about animals. I assume I can hunt them in the Resource and in my claimed region(s), right?
Thanks in advance for your replies and apologies in case they've been answered before.

1. Mining where someone else has in the RW is okay. Chest that are placed should be left alone. Ones in minecarts are fair game. 2. Digging out for a base/bunker is perfectly legit. But make sure you have the mayor of the regions permission first if applicable. 3. You can never safely store anything anywhere. Many new players come on every day. Only store things in your claim and your enderchest. 4. If it looks like someone corralled animals into a pen leave them be, but otherwise RW is open to all hunting. The same goes for hunting on your claim.

Exactly what hoost said + you can freely mine in the regions you are the mayor of or the regions you have the permission of the mayor
I thought I'd say this just because you are new and mentioned mining and this could be a thing you didn't know already.

You cannot mine in any regions for materials, except for packed ice in region Icemine. Everything else is supposed to be obtained in the Resource World.

Can you not mine in your regions? You are the one responsible for what you do anyway plus it's your place, (some of) your rules

i have been told that mining in your own regions is aloud, and i have been told hunting animals is aloud only in resource world unless you breed them, and now people are saying the opposite xD

There is a broadcast the runs ever hour telling you to:
"Please restrict your mining to the Resource World in Newtown"
What is not clear about that. People in game will tell you any number of things, and sometimes it is wrong or not the full story. You can mine out an area for base or a build in a region, no problem. But just simply mining in a region, regardless of who owns it is not allowed.
And again, this broadcast has probably played thousands of times over the months so by now it should bee seen as a pretty clear directive.

Sorry for the confusion. But because the mayor has rule privileges in their own region, this means that they can mine in their region to make farms or underground builds/base. This means it is impossible for us to predetermine your objective as mayor in why you are digging/mining your region. For this reason, we allow mayors to mine in their region and the mayor only.

So can mayors mine for resources in their own regions?

Thanks a lot people. @themastergamer06: I think HayanTokki's post shed light on it. Mayors are allowed to mine their own regions and only Mayors.

Wow, this was way more complicated than I thought, I assumed it would all end at like 1 message as an answer to mine, I guess I was wrong. Whoops!

I think mining with the sole objective of obtaining resource is still not allowed. Like even if the mayor is mining in their own region but the mine clearly looks like branch mining, they would be breaking rules and will be warned right?

I would request locking the post HayanTokki and asking in a different post. But without much knowledge on the topic I would assume it's ok
